Welcome to Slates ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Slates (the "App").

Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the App.

We may collect the following categories of information:

• Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address and any profile details you provide, processed via Supabase Auth.
• User-Generated Content: Slates, scripts, storyboards, voice notes, and inspiration URLs you create or import within the App. This content is stored on our Supabase-powered backend and is private to your account unless you explicitly share it.
• Shared URLs & Metadata: When you share a URL into the App via Android share intents, we process that URL and attempt to extract Open Graph metadata (title, thumbnail) to enrich the Slate. We do not retain raw browsing history.
• Device & Usage Data: We may collect standard analytics such as device type, OS version, app version, crash reports, and feature usage to improve the App. This does not include personally identifiable information.
• Voice Notes: Audio recordings created in-app are stored locally on your device and/or uploaded to your private Supabase storage bucket. We do not process, analyze, or listen to your voice recordings.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the App
• Authenticate your identity and manage your account
• Sync your content across devices via Supabase
• Improve, personalize, and expand our App features
• Send important notices, such as changes to our terms or policies
• Prevent fraudulent or abusive activity
• Debug and fix technical issues

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL), which provides row-level security, encrypted connections (TLS), and industry-standard access controls. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may delete your account at any time, at which point your data will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Content in the Trash Bin within the App is soft-deleted and retained for up to 30 days before permanent deletion, giving you an opportunity to recover items.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data with:

• Supabase — our backend infrastructure provider, bound by their own privacy policy and data processing agreements.
• Service providers acting on our behalf under confidentiality obligations (e.g., crash reporting tools).
• Law enforcement or government authorities when required by law or to protect our legal rights.

The App may use third-party services (e.g., YouTube, Instagram, TikTok metadata APIs) solely to enrich inspiration cards with publicly available Open Graph data. These services are governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under the applicable age threshold, we will delete it promptly.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Object to or restrict certain processing activities
• Data portability (receive a copy of your data in a structured format)

The App may request the following device permissions:

• Microphone: Required for recording voice notes within the App.
• Storage / Media: Used to save voice recordings locally on your device.
• Internet: Required for syncing data with Supabase and fetching URL metadata.
• Receive Share Intents: Allows the App to appear as a share target in Android, so you can send URLs directly from other apps.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
